Portraits with personality

Photographs shaped around your pet’s character

Pet photography is less about expecting perfect behaviour and more about recognising the expressions, gestures and habits that make an animal familiar. The session is planned around your pet’s temperament rather than a rigid sequence of poses.

Time is allowed for your pet to become comfortable with the studio, the photographer and the equipment. Calm direction, short pauses and simple encouragement help create natural portraits without asking an animal to perform continuously.

Your pet can be photographed alone, alongside another animal or with the people they trust. The result is a considered series that records both individual personality and the relationship you share.

Individual Pet Portraits

Focused portraits that capture expression, posture and the small visual details that make your pet immediately recognisable.

Created for: personal artwork, keepsakes, gifts and portraits that celebrate one animal.

Pets & Their People

Relaxed portraits of you together, created around genuine interaction rather than formal posing or forced attention towards the camera.

Created for: owners, couples, children and families who want to record their relationship with a pet.

Multiple Pets & Family Groups

Individual and shared combinations for households with more than one animal, with time to build the final group portrait gradually.

Created for: multiple-pet households, family groups and a varied collection from one session.

Preparing your pet

Pet Photography FAQs

Practical information about planning a calm and comfortable studio session with your pet.

Which animals can be photographed?

Sessions can be planned for dogs, cats and other companion animals when the studio environment is appropriate for their size, temperament and needs. Share details about your pet when enquiring so the session can be prepared properly.

What if my pet will not sit still?

Your pet does not need to remain perfectly still for a long period. The session uses short moments, gentle direction and pauses, allowing useful expressions and positions to develop naturally.

Can nervous or reactive pets be photographed?

Possibly, depending on the pet and the type of reactivity. Please explain any fear, guarding, bite history or sensitivity before booking. A quieter arrival, additional settling time and fewer people in the studio may help, but the session will proceed only when it is safe and reasonably comfortable for the pet, owner and photographer.

Can I be photographed with my pet?

Yes. The session can include individual portraits of your pet as well as photographs of you together. Clothing and the visual style can be discussed beforehand so the finished series feels consistent.

Can several pets take part in one session?

Yes. Several pets can be photographed individually and in shared combinations. Their relationship and ability to remain comfortable together will guide how the group portraits are approached.

How should I prepare my pet before the session?

Please bring your pet clean, dry, brushed and free from fleas or ticks, and allow an opportunity for toileting before entering the studio. Keep the period before the session as familiar as possible. For dogs, a gentle walk beforehand can help, but avoid anything that leaves your pet tired, overheated or stressed.

What should I bring to the studio?

Bring a lead or secure carrier, water, favourite treats and a familiar toy if these help your pet settle or hold attention. Please also mention allergies, sensitivities or behavioural concerns before arriving.

Can a lead or collar be removed from the finished photographs?

Safety comes first, so a lead or collar should remain in place whenever it is needed during the session. Simple visible sections can sometimes be reduced or removed during retouching, but this depends on the background, fur and position of the equipment. Complex removal is not guaranteed and should be discussed before the final images are selected.

What if my pet is unwell on the session date?

Please do not bring an animal that is unwell, contagious, injured or unusually distressed. Contact the studio as soon as possible so the session can be moved to a more suitable date in accordance with the booking terms. The pet’s welfare and the hygiene of the studio take priority.
